The last two days have been days of Drama in the Kisii county assembly after a section of MCAs ploted the ouster of the Speaker of the house Hon. Philip Nyanumba.

The reports earlier were that it was the UDA MCAs who had the initial plan to table an impeachment Motion against Hon. Philip Nyanumba on the grounds of Misappropriation of funds by the county assembly public Service board but was later discovered that it was him and some ODM MCAs who colluded with the opposition MCAs to start collecting Signatures which could have aided the tabling of the impeachment motion against the speaker.

From his revelations during the presser with journalists from the region, Hon. Matundura said that there is a section of MCAs in the house who are not happy with the way the Speaker of the house is conducting himself on the issues finance and wanted him impeached for failing to explain himself to the house on how some money meant to stimulate their activities was spent. The MCAs tasked him with the role of collecting the signatures which they could have later used to table a motion in the house to impeach the speaker.

in response to this, the Speaker came in today with a communication from the ruling party that he has been ousted from various committees of the house.

Hon. Matundura was presently the chair for Agriculture and a member in other three committees but has since been shown the exit door way from either of those committees and will henceforth cease from being a member of any of them.

Mr. Matundura Termed his ouster as a witch-hunt and that it was intended to intimidate other leaders from doing their diligent duty in oversighting the government and the house proceedings.

“For me this was a witch-hunt due to my political stand and commitment to perform my oversight role. Our duties as MCAs is representation, legislation and Oversight.

“I am not the only person but this was done to scare off other Hon. Members from questioning on legislation and oversight.”

Mr. Matundura said that his next stop is to go to court and challenge the decision.
